03 / CALCULATION / CONFIGURATION / TESTING

Selective protection.
Traceable settings.

We derive protection settings from the single-line diagram, instrument-transformer ratios, fault levels, selectivity and system-operator requirements. The scope can include ABB Relion REF615/REX615 engineering in PCM600 and ComAp MainsPro grid protection.

SERVICE SCOPE

The value entered in the relay is the final step—not the first.

The protected equipment, measurement chain, trip path, coordination with other protection devices and required fault response must be understood before functions can be configured and the real output verified.

01

Calculation and coordination

Instrument-transformer ratios, fault levels, trip times, selectivity and project or system-operator requirements reviewed.

02

Function configuration

Supported overcurrent, earth-fault, voltage, frequency and loss-of-mains functions, including ROCOF, configured to the approved design.

03

Logic and trip path

Inputs, blocking, signal matrix, common trip, output contacts and the circuit-breaker or point-of-disconnection interface verified.

04

Testing and handover

Agreed secondary injection or functional tests performed, START/OPERATE indications and timing compared, and a controlled configuration backup handed over.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Inputs for a useful start.

  • As-built single-line, control and trip schematics
  • Fault-level and selectivity study where available
  • Current- and voltage-transformer ratios and wiring
  • Current configuration, firmware, authorised access and system-operator requirements

WHAT WE DELIVER

An output you can use.

A protection settings report, function and trip matrix, configuration backup, change log and records of the agreed tests.

We do not reuse universal settings. Every parameter must be justified by the actual installation and approved inputs. Work on energised or operational equipment follows an agreed safe test procedure with authorised site personnel.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

Questions we are
often asked.

Do you support ABB REF615 and REX615?

Yes. The scope can include measurement-input review, protection and logic engineering in PCM600, event analysis and output verification. Exact capability depends on the relay variant, connectivity package, firmware and authorised access.

Do you also configure MainsPro?

Yes. ComAp MainsPro work can cover voltage, frequency and loss-of-mains protection, including ROCOF and vector shift where those functions are required by the project and system operator.

Can settings be copied from a similar site?

No. A similar plant can have different instrument-transformer ratios, fault levels, switchgear, operating times or operator requirements. An existing file may support a review but does not replace calculation and testing.

Will we receive a test report?

Yes, when testing is in scope. We agree test quantities, expected START/OPERATE behaviour, the trip path, output isolation and restoration of the operational state before work begins.
